Photos around the little college town of Szeged. It was the hottest day in recorded Hungarian history so I pretty much had the town to myself....
The funny part of this picture was not the irony of seeing a statue that so perfectly captured my heavy melancholy of the day - but the look on my face when I forgot to pull mys skirt down before sitting on the bare metal bench when it was 107 degrees outside!!
My host Daniel and me at the bus station - he was so sweet to see me all the way there on such a hot day.
The Gázi Kászim Mosque, built during the Ottoman rule in the 16th century but later converted to a Catholic church.
One of the remaining turrets along the city's old Roman walls. The tables and booths from the cultural festival marry the past with the present.
View of the main square with the 'wild' horse in the foreground and converted mosque in the background...
So, the evening starts tamely enough. Chatting on the grass after the concert. Smoking a raspberry flavored hookah. Drinking a litte beer.... And then came the palinka... and the wild horses. The pictures only need one caption - Damn, we're drunk! But we had fun - well... until the hospital...
