Sunset across the lake at Prospect Park. Olmstead actually considered his design of Prospect Park to be even better than what he did with Central Park. It is truly a beautiful place.
The architecture around New York never ceases to amaze me. It is one of the few American cities that I think holds its own to European cities when it comes to beautiful architecture.
My first up close view of the Brooklyn Bridge. This truly is an amazingly beautiful architectural landmark.
Trigger happy as I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. A definite must-do if you ever visit New York!
New York is filled with beautiful churches - I think the city could actually give Rome a run for its money on beautiful churches per capita!
The Europeans find our obsession with flying our flag entertaining - I guess looking down the street in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral, I'd have to admit the practice seems a bit extreme.
The ~ 10 ft x 6ft flag hanging from the rafters in the nave of St Patrick's for Christmas was inexplicably disconcerting. I guess I think houses of worship should be under God not under country...
Anyone remember all the "quaint McDonalds" pictures I took around Europe? I guess this is as New York as McDonalds can get!
The Santa Con Rally. Over 1,500 people dressed up in santa suits and began bar hopping at 10 am. I've never seen so many happy people at 2pm on a Saturday! I walked past one particularly authentic looking Santa who waved his finger at me and declared - You are getting everything you want this Christmas! That turned out to be my soon to be good friend, Jerry.
Glimpse through the trees of the Cathedral Church of St John the Divine. Anticipated to be the largest cathedral in the world when construction is completed around the year 2050. For more information, see post under NYC Been There Done That
